Steps to Making Car Seat Poncho No Sew

If you’re looking for an easy car seat cover, you can make a poncho using some simple materials. This poncho is perfect for when it’s cold outside and your car seat is too warm.

To make the car seat poncho, you will need:
-A piece of fabric that is at least 48″ wide by 18″ long
-Stiffeners (optional)
-Cord or Velcro (for closure)
1. Begin by measuring your car seat’s width and length. You will need to cut the fabric to these measurements. You can also use a pattern if desired.
2. Sew the fabric together along one short side, leaving a large opening for turning. Turn the fabric so that the seam is facing outwards, and press well.
3. With the opening still facing outwards, stitch close to the edge of the opening, but not through it yet. Do not finish off your stitching yet!
4. Thread a piece of cord or Velcro around one end of the opening and sew it closed, making sure that it is tight enough so that nothing can slip through (but not so tight that it causes pain when adjusting your child in or out of their car seat). If you are using stiffeners, attach them now before sewing on your closure

Tips for Making a Better Car Seat Poncho No Sew

Making a car seat poncho is a great way to keep your car seat warm and cozy on those cold winter days. This project is simple and easy to complete, so be sure to have all of the supplies on hand before you start!

1. Start by cutting out a square piece of fabric large enough to cover your car seat. You will also need two strips of fabric about 1 inch wide each, and a strip of felt or fleece about twice as long as the width of the fabric square.

2. Sew the two strips of fabric together along one long side, making sure that they are even in width and length. Then turn the whole thing right-side out and press it flat.

3. Cut a hole at one end of the fabric square, just big enough to fit over your car’s headrests. Turn the poncho inside-out so that the hole is facing outwards, then press it down lightly around the edges. Make sure that there are no loose threads anywhere, or your poncho will not stay secure when you’re driving!

4. Finally, sew up the hole in the bottom of the poncho with a short stitch or zigzag; this will make it easier to pull over your head when you’re ready to use it!
