How To Attach Graco Car Seat Base

One of the most common questions parents ask is how to attach a Graco car seat base. This is a question that can be confusing for both parents and babysitters alike, as there are several different types of car seats and bases. To make things a little easier, we’ve put together a quick guide on how to attach a Graco car seat base. By following these simple steps, you’ll be able to get your carseat in and out of the car with ease.

What you need

If you’re looking to attach your Graco car seat base to your vehicle’s safety belt, there are a few things you’ll need:

-A safety belt extension (or the original safety belt from your car)
-A Graco car seat base
-The correct attachment hardware
-An open area on your vehicle’s safety belt webbing

How to attach the base

When attaching the Graco car seat base to your vehicle, make sure to follow these simple steps:

1. Locate the lower “Latch” on the car seat base. Make sure it is facing outwards.

2. Insert the hook of the “Latch” into one of the two “D-rings” on the car seat. Match up the two ends of the “Latch”.

3. Hold onto the “D-ring” and pull up on the “Latch”, until it clicks into place. The car seat base should now be secure in place.

4. Repeat these steps to attach the other side of the car seat base to your vehicle’s “Latch”.

Tips for attaching the base

Step One:

Position the base so the child’s head is level with or slightly above the middle of the seat. If the car seat has a canopy, ensure it is in place.

Step Two:

Locate the two straps that connect to either side of the car seat and thread them through each hole on either side of the base.

Step Three:

Push down on each strap to secure them in place.

Step Four:

If your car seat has a harness system, attach it now by threading each strap over one shoulder and under the other arm, then pulling tight. If your car seat doesn’t have a harness, skip to step five.

Step Five: If your car seat doesn’t have a harness system, loosely drape one end of the fabric cover over one shoulder and tuck it behind the other arm. Be sure to spread out the fabric enough so that it covers both straps and isn’t too tight against your child’s chest or neck.
